In 2015 I was involved in an investigation that took down one of the largest movie piracy sites in the world - Yify Torrents, aka YTS. While working in anti-piracy for the music industry, I tracked the site owner, Yiftach Swery, aka Yif Swery, to his home in Mt. Wellington, New Zealand.

After I made a fake call to Yif to verify his home address, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) filed a case in the Auckland High Court and visited Mr Swery at his home for what's called a "Knock and Talk." 

Strangely the New Zealand Police did not raid and take the case criminally, which surely would have ended in jail time due to the massive scale of offending.

Yify Torrents / YTS Torrents went offline on 20 October 2015, but many copycat websites soon popped up.

Mr Swery still lives in Auckland and works as a web developer.
